Running a business is hard - but, it’s one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever experience. As a small business owner, I’m constantly looking for ways to simplify my business and make my work-life balance easier.

In this blog post, I’m listing out some of my favourite tools and softwares I personally use in my business, or have experience using with clients, and would recommend to support and simplify your business journey.

Plus, I’m a firm believer that you should be able to run your business with ease, even if you’re on a tight budget, which is why all of the tools I’ve included in this post are budget-friendly. Most of them even offer a free plan, so they're perfect for budding entrepreneurs who don’t have the resources to splash out on fancy software.

1. Thrivecart

I absolutely love Thrivecart! I originally started using it as it’s an advanced checkout software that allowed me to increase cart conversions and order values through design, order bumps, upsells etc. offering features that my course hosting platform didn’t allow.

Since then, it’s expanded into much more with its own course platform included at no extra cost. Learn offers advanced design and customisation that most other course platforms don’t so I quickly made the switch and both me and my students love it!

And are you ready for the best part? Thrivecart offers users the option to purchase at a one-off lifetime fee rather than monthly recurring payments. So although it may set you back a few hundred dollars in the beginning, you’ll save thousands in the long run.

2. ClickUp

ClickUp is an all-in-one organisation software that allows you to plan your life and business. You can use it to plan your days, weeks, months and years, set and keep track of your goals, create business workflows and so much more! Almost every single part of my business is housed within ClickUp - I couldn’t run my business without it!

3. Notion

As well as ClickUp, I also love to use Notion to manage my business and personal life. Much like ClickUp, Notion is a notetaking and project management software.

I mostly use Notion for notetaking although I also love to use it to make my yearly, quarterly and monthly plans.

4. Mailerlite

I use Mailerlite for all things email marketing. This platform makes email automation, funnels and newsletters so easy. And the best part? It’s free for under 1,000 subscribers!

5. Canva

Canva is the easiest way to create professional graphics for those of us who aren’t tech-savvy users of photoshop. There are thousands of stock photos, templates, fonts and elements included within the free plan so you can take full advantage of this platform without having to spend a penny!

However, if you want to try their pro plan, you can start your free 30-day trial here.

6. Calendly

Calendly allows you to automate scheduling your meetings professionally and efficiently, eliminating the hassle of back-and-forth emails with your clients.

This will allow your clients to conveniently book in at a time and date that suits the both of you, without you having to do a thing!

You can even automatically add your preferred video conferencing platform that will instantly send to the client and prevent you from faffing around with links manually.

7. Squarespace

My website is hosted with Squarespace. I love how easily I can design a professional website, without having to be skilled in coding and design so it’s the perfect option for anyone wanting to build a professional website without having to hire a professional designer.

8. Voxer

Voxer is a free text & voice messaging app and a huge part of my business as I use it every single day to communicate with my private mentorship clients.

If you’re familiar with my business model, you’ll know that I don’t do 1:1 mentorship in the traditional sense, meaning that I don’t have calls with my clients. Instead, my mentorship takes place entirely through voice and text messaging via Voxer.

Find out more about how my mentorship works here.

9. Styled Stock Society

Styled Stock Society is my go-to website for stock photos and graphics curated specifically for female entrepreneurs. SSS is a membership that contains over 3,000 gorgeous stock photos to improve your visuals, hundreds of Canva templates... and unlimited downloads!

Although there’s no free plan here, SSS is 100% worth the investment if you want your website and graphics to stand out in the online space.

10. Zapier

Zapier is an amazing tool that allows seamless integrations between apps that don’t usually work together and allows you to take tedious tasks off your plate for good. When you take the time to set these systems up once, it eliminates the need for you to be involved with the task at all and frees up your time so that you can spend it on the more important, money-generating activities in your business.

11. Dubsado

Whilst I don’t personally use Dubsado, many of my clients do and I would highly recommend it for any service-based business owners.

Providing an excellent client experience is a fundamental pillar of a successful business. So it only makes sense to have a good CRM system in place to elevate that experience (whilst simultaneously saving you a sh*t tonne of time).

Dubsado can automate the onboarding and offboarding process so you don't have to waste your time sending invoices, emails, following up etc.

Plus, you get your first 3 clients free. Click here to sign up for your free trial.

12. Honey

Honey isn’t exactly a business tool, but it’s something that will save you a ton of money! Honey is a Chrome extension that works on autopilot to look for and automatically apply coupons to your orders as you shop - you don’t even have to lift a finger!
