Why Rest & Play is Important within Entrepreneurship

As business owners, it can be a major struggle to prioritise rest. Often, we get ourselves stuck in the cycle of doing all the things without actually taking a moment to pause and check in with ourselves.

Hustle culture has convinced us that in order to be successful, we have to be working hard 24/7. Hands up if you’ve ever felt guilty for sitting in front of the TV when you could be doing something to move your business forward? Time is money after all, right?

Well, this mindset comes from the conditioning that happens within corporate settings, or any traditional jobs for that matter. When you work for someone else, your wages are usually determined by the number of hours you put in. Because of this, we are conditioned to believe that the more we work, the more money we’ll make.

But entrepreneurship is anything but traditional. The number of hours your work in your business does not have to equate to how productive you are, or the amount of revenue you receive.

Because there’s so much pressure to always be working, we often end up wasting hours of our time conducting meaningless tasks that keep us busy, yes, but don’t necessarily move the needle forward within our business…

And that is exactly what we’re going to be discussing in this episode of the HER Purpose podcast, with our very first guest, Sadie Tichelaar of This Curious Life Coaching!

In the conversation you’re about to hear, Sadie and I discuss the concept of Rest & Play, why it’s important within entrepreneurship and how to make sure that it remains a priority. We’re talking all about how you can slow down and prioritise rest, while still being productive and continuing to move the needle forward in your business.

YOU’LL LEARN:

  • Why we, as business owners, struggle to prioritise rest.

  • How hustle culture can lead to burnout and how to prevent this from happening.

  • How to identify whether you’re guilty of toxic productivity & how to set practical intentions instead.
