Why It’s Important to Inject Your Personality into Your Copy with Mackenzie Flemming

Let’s be honest, copywriting isn’t something that comes easy to most of us.

But I’ll let you in on a little secret: The marketing world is extremely noisy, and it’s only going to get noisier. The best way to stand out in a crowded space is by creating personality-driven copy.

Whether you’re writing a blog post, website copy, social media content or email campaigns, your unique personality is what’s going to bring those words to life and make you stand out from the competition.

So if you’ve been feeling like your copy is missing something, and you want to learn how to create compelling and engaging copy that resonates with your audience and sets you apart from everyone else, you are going to love this episode!

Our guest today is Mackenzie Flemming, a conversion copywriter for coaches who aren’t afraid to stand out, spice up their industry, and make a huge impact. In this episode, Mackenzie is going to walk us through how to infuse our personality into our copy and why it matters so much.

Meet Mackenzie

Mackinzie is the Founfer of Hot Copy Haus. Over at Hot Copy Haus, they (as Mackenzie describes it) write all the shit that makes you money! They offer DIY templates, DFY copywriting, workshops, and more to help a variety of levels of coaches and service providers.

How coaches & service providers can use copywriting to stand out in a crowded market.

It all comes down to your message and your brand voice. It's the personality behind your message and in your communications, and it's really who you are, how you communicate, how you speak, and that personality that comes across to the world. At the end of the day, it all comes down to getting as raw and authentic as possible.

When Mackenzie first got into the online space, she was going back and editing her captions to remove all the bad works and jokes before she would post them. She really watered her content down, and she did this because she thought it’s what she needed to do to be “professional”.

And then one day, her unedited caption accidentally auto-posted, and that was the best thing that could have happened because that's when she started getting so much more attention from her dream clients!

So, don’t be afraid to inject your personality into your copy. That's what's going to attract people and get them engaged. When you post content that gets really raw and real, people become even more involved and more excited to buy from you.

Mackenzie’s top tip for injecting your personality into your copywriting.

When you’re creating content, write like you’re texting your best friend. And if that doesn’t feel natural, say it out loud - record yourself on your phone and transcribe it!

When you do this, you’ll notice the common words and phrases you tend to use and you can start using those within your copy and gear your language and messaging to reflect you. This is something that can be quite hard to distinguish until you actually see it on paper in front of you.

How to write a powerful sales page that converts your ideal client.

1. FIND A FORMULA THAT WORKS FOR YOU

There’s no point in constantly trying to re-invent the wheel because that takes up so much of your time. Once you have that formula, you’re able to rinse and repeat it for every sales page you create.

2. MAKE IT SKIMMABLE

Always make sure to include headlines for your sections TO make it easy for YOUR readers to skim. Make sure to include whitespace, short paragraphs, short sentences etc.

With sales pages, people don’t usually tend to read in order. They're going to scroll through and follow the headlines, and so the flow of how you write the sales page and put it all together really does matter.

3. BE INTENTIONAL WITH THE NAME OF YOUR SALES PAGE

One of the biggest mistakes people make with their sales pages is that they make the name of their sales page just the name of their offer. Instead, your sales page name should be something benefit-driven. Something that provides a little bit of context and really hooks the reader in.
